In short

What SafeHousing Is

SafeHousing.ie is a free, independent tool that helps renters in Ireland document housing problems, write to their landlord or agent, and know when and how to escalate. It provides guidance and tools, not legal advice, and it is not a substitute for advice from Threshold, Citizens Information, or a qualified professional. If anyone is in immediate danger, contact the emergency services on 112.

Your Information and Privacy

The mould and damp checker and the letter generator run entirely in your browser. What you type into them is not collected, stored or transmitted to any server, and SafeHousing has no way of seeing your answers. Nothing you enter leaves your device unless you personally choose to copy, download, print or send it.

SafeHousing does not currently require an account or login, so there is no password or personal profile stored anywhere on the site.

Cookies and Tracking

SafeHousing does not use advertising cookies or third-party tracking scripts. If that changes in future, this page will be updated to explain what is used and why.

Letters and Messages

Any letter or message produced by the letter generator is a draft for you to review. SafeHousing never sends anything to your landlord, agent, or any other party on your behalf. You choose whether, when and how to send what you generate.

External Links and Services

SafeHousing links to independent services such as Threshold, Citizens Information, the Residential Tenancies Board and your local authority. Those organisations have their own privacy practices, which SafeHousing does not control.

Limits of This Service

SafeHousing gives general guidance that applies to typical rented-housing situations in Ireland. It cannot account for every circumstance, and it does not guarantee any particular outcome. For advice specific to your tenancy, contact Threshold, Citizens Information, or a qualified professional.
